How much does being a Foster Parent cost?
Foster Parents receive a monthly check for the child's care and needs. Reimbursements range from $835 per month to $850 per month depending on the child's age. The money is to be strictly used for the child for such things as food, clothing, school supplies, activites, and recreation.
Some expenses, such as daycare, may be covered by other flexible funds.
Payments are made retroactively meaning received the month after care is provided.
Adoptive parents may be eligible to recieve an adoption subsidy on behalf of their adopted child. Eligibility is usually based on the adoptive child's needs, not the income of adoptive parents. However, there are situations when eligibility is based on the adoptive parents income alone. The Department will study the individual circumstances of each case to make a determination.
Financial Stability.
Foster parents must have sufficient income to support their own family and the foster child until the foster care check is received. Health care is provided for the child.
It is up to you to provide a loving home.
