It is important to understand that as a foster parent you will not be in it alone. You will be one person in a team of people helping the child adjust and succeed. The team will include you, a caseworker that oversees the placement, the family court that makes the decisions and the child's family.

The Kent County Department of Social Services caseworker is trained to provide you with informational and emotional support you will need on an on-going basis.

Responsibility is shared.

Caseworkers are responsible with the parents for the ethical treatment of the foster child.

caseworker

Your caseworker has background on the birth parents and thus they can help you understand the needs of your foster child better.
